Spring 2019 Special Events: Breath Awareness and Mindful Eating Workshops
Breath Awareness for Stress Reduction
Take a break from stress and allow your mind, body, and spirit to find a place of rest and relaxation. Breath awareness techniques have the ability to stimulate the physiological relaxation response and turn down the "fight or flight" stress response. This 1 1/2 hour workshop will introduce two breath awareness techniques that have been shown to:
• reduce stress, anxiety, and some chronic illness risk factors
• increase focus and experiences of calm relaxation
These techniques will be taught during the workshop and resources will be provided so that you can practice these skills at home. In addition to breath awareness practice, you will have an opportunity for reflection and journaling to assist you to identify and envision a place of calm relaxation in your own life. Facilitated by Katie Winnell, Nurse Coach and Health Educator.

For the Love of Food! Creating Integrated Health through Mindful Eating
No More Guilt
No More Dieting
No More Obsessing
You truly can "Eat What You Love, and Love What You Eat" while working toward integrative health goals.
This 8 week interactive workshop with Katie Winnell, RN, NC-BC, will utilize the Am I Hungry® Mindful Eating Program to help you recognize and manage your eating patterns and work toward a state of nutritional wellness. Far from “just another diet,” Mindful Eating helps you to:
break your “eat-repent-repeat” cycle - first depriving, then craving, then overeating, then feeling guilty, and returning to prior habits
return to instinctive eating by developing healthful habits using our internal cues of hunger and fullness
learn to view food as a joyful opportunity for self-care
manage your eating patterns to assist in reaching integrated health goals
use the energy from your food to live a joyful, vibrant life
Workshop materials always include the book Eat What You Love, Love What You Eat by Dr. Michelle May, a companion workbook and awareness journal, and access to the Am I Hungry® online participant portal, full of support and educational resources.
Katie Winnell is a Licensed Facilitator of the Am I Hungry® Mindful Eating Program.
